Submission Guidelines

Welcome to Thought Faucet! If you’re a member of the site, you’ll be wanting to start contributing, hopefully as soon as possible. To get started, you’ll need to know a few things about how to submit a TF post.

First things first. If you were invited to join Thought Faucet, you'll have received an invitation email. In that email will be a link which, once clicked, will activate your membership to the blog. That is, unless you don’t yet have a Google account. If you do have one, skip to the next section, Creating a New Post.

Before you can do anything, you’ll need to sign up for a Google account. It’s free and easy. Just follow the link above, click “Create an Account Now,” enter your email address and password, and accept the terms by clicking the button at the bottom. If you’ve ever registered for any service online before, the process will be familiar to you.

Once you’re logged in, go to http://www.blogger.com. By default you’ll be directed to the Dashboard, the hub of your blogging universe. To create a new post, click “New Post” under Thought Faucet in the “Manage Your Blogs” section. This will take you to a creation form, where you can add a title and some content, including images and video.

For naming your post, we recommend using a title that follows the naming convention "Timeframe: Topic - You Name."  For example, check out the first art post, which used the daily topic "Toaster" and was created by Marshall Bock, therefore the post title became "Daily: Toaster - Marshall Bock." Using this convention will make your post easy to identify and search for in the future.

Being that this is an art blog, adding an image to your post is a must. To do so, you’ll need to click on the “Add Image” button in the toolbar above the large text entry field. It looks like this and is the third icon from the right.

In the resulting popup, browse for and find your image by clicking the “Choose File” button on the left, or if it already exists on the web, enter the image’s URL in the field on the right. Next, choose the Layout and Size for displaying your image in the post.

NOTE: We strongly recommend you use the Center layout and Medium image size in order to maintain a consistent look for the site.

One of the great things about being a member of Thought Faucet is that you can decide how often you want to contribute. Depending on your free time, you can choose to submit a new post based on either the daily, weekly, or monthly topic. But for others to see your post, you need to make sure you label it appropriately.

You can do this by adding keywords, or tags, into the entry field at the bottom right corner of each post submission form. To make it easy, we’ve designated these tags simply as daily, weekly, and monthly. Additionally, you can apply your own tags to further identify your work and make it easier to find. By adding the appropriate tag(s), your post will show up with all similarly tagged posts, making it easier to find. Read a little more on searching and tagging.

NOTE: Again, for consistency, we recommend you keep your unique tags lowercase. Also, please don't use your name as a tag. You can always search using the tan navigation bar at the top of each page.

Hopefully, these instructions don’t come across as too intimidating. Really, once you successfully submit a post or two, you’ll have no problems afterward.

So once again, welcome to the site, and we look forward to seeing your work!

Happy arting,

The Management
